Agriculture:

 The overall emphasis of trainings is to improve water productivity i.e. producing more crop per drop. The main objective of the trainings is to achieved by adopting improved irrigation practices, promoting crop diversification, and effective application of non-water inputs. It would contribute to increased agricultural production, more employment opportunities in rural areas, higher incomes from farming, better living standards of the farmers, and improved environment. Following are the key objectives of the trainings:

  • Capacity building of departments that how to Improving productivity of irrigation water by efficient conveyance and its effective farm level use by adopting conservation agricultural practices
  • Production of more profitable crops through high efficiency irrigation systems (HEISs) for meeting increasing domestic demand and enhancing exports

  • Capacity building of stakeholders in better managing irrigation water for attaining higher crop yields with less production costs.

Fisheries

Fishery plays an important role in the national economy. It provides employment to about 300,000 fishermen directly. In addition, another 400,000 people are employed in ancillary industries. It is also a major source of export earning. In July-May 2002-03 fish and fishery products valued at US $ 117 million were exported from Pakistan. Federal Government is responsible for fishery of Exclusive Economic Zone of Pakistan. BG has conducted some projects as follow.
